Blue Ribbon Dinner 2006

David Cameron at the Blue Ribbon Dinner 2006 Held at the Savoy in London, the Blue Ribbon Dinner in May 2006 was a sell-out, with last minute applications having to be turned away. Dinner Chairman Eve Burt said "We were honoured by the presence of our new Leader, David Cameron, and also thrilled to have so many of our hard working Parliamentary team at Blue Ribbon 2006.

"Enabling women to reach their full potential and ensuring that the women's vote is captured, held and maintained is the constant goal of the CWO. This event gave us the opportunity to raise funds but also to enjoy a 'divine', excellent and unmissable' evening!"

At the drinks reception before dinner The Rt. Hon. David Cameron MP met many of the guests, who were delighted to have the opportunity to meet the Party Leader. Once everyone was seated at their tables, David Cameron gave a truly uplifting speech.

David said "I want every woman in Britain to share my passion to change Britain for the better and to share our values; to join out mission; make their contribution; and help make our country a better place to live. It's great to be working with the CWO in helping to bring that about."

Lord Dalmeny ran the auction, which included some excellent prizes and raised several thousand pounds.

The Party Chairman, the Rt. Hon. Frances Maude MP, members of the House of Lords, MPs and a large contingent of Conservative Future, European Union of Women and Women2Win members were also present to support the Women's Organisation.

Funds are used to run the organisation and enable it to support David Cameron's drive towards getting more Conservative women into Parliament and into other areas of public life.

Date for your Diary: The Blue Ribbon Dinner 2007 will be held on 15th May 2007.

In bed with 'Dave'

by Cristina Odone

Last Monday, I was among the 300-plus Tories (mainly women) who listened to David Cameron speak at the Blue Ribbon dinner. The annual event is meant to celebrate women involved in Conservative party politics but with Cameron present, it was impossible to concentrate on anything other than 'Dave'.

Looking like a younger, more clean-living Michael Douglas, the Tory leader waxed lyrical about women's contribution to his party. Then he ventured into what has become dangerous territory for Labour and Lib Dems alike: sex.

'I asked my wife the other night what it felt like to go to bed with the 92nd sexiest man in Britain. [This, according to a GQ poll, is his ranking in the sex stakes.] Sam blushed and looked coyly at her shoes, and then said. "Look, it was a long time ago and I'd rather not talk about it now."'

Mark Oaten and John Prescott, eat your hearts out.
