How We Work
Our meetings are for political dialogue and to stimulate discussion around women's views and perspectives so
that we can feed these back to the Party Leader, the Shadow Cabinet and the Board of the Party.
We also gather women's opinions through questionnaires, conferences, forums and summits. In the last five years
the CWO's work has covered:
- Policing
- Drugs
- Criminal Justice System
- 'Big Brother' sydrome
- Immigration and asylum
- Food labelling
- Animal welfare
- Environment
- Housing and Planning
- Mental Health
- Pensions
- Europe
- Forced Marriages
- Prostitution
- Gang Culture
- Iraq & Afghanistan
- Cyber Bullying
- Local Government
- Taxation
- Stalking
- Rural Poverty
The CWO runs an annual Conference, usually in London, to which all women (and men as well!) are welcome.
The CWO is self-funding and holds various social events. The Blue Ribbon Dinner is the major annual fund-raising event.
The Premier Cru tea, held at the House of Lords, is by invitation to those women who have made a substantial
contribution to the work of the CWO.
Training and mentoring are offered to women both nationally and regionally to encourage them to participate
in the Conservative Party. This may be as an active member of their local women's committee or constituency, or to go
forward to stand for public office in local government, parliamentary or public appointments.
The CWO also liases with MPs, members of the House of Lords, MEPs, the Party Board, Conservative Future,
the professional staff of the Party, councillors, other centrist political parties and outside organisations.
